7th day of CNY - The end of CNY break

What is the definition of CNY - Chinese New Year?

According to legend, in ancient China, the Nián (年) was a man-eating beast from the mountains (in other versions from under the sea), which came out every 12 months to prey on humans. The people later believed that the Nian was sensitive to loud noises and the color red, so they scared it away with explosions, fireworks and the liberal use of the color red. These customs led to the first New Year celebrations. Guò nián (Simplified Chinese: 过年; Traditional Chinese: 過年), which means to celebrate the new year, literally means the passover of the Nian.

That's the all time favorite myth that parents or teachers will tell to their children. My definition of CNY is slightly different than what they celebrate before. Yes, we still have fireworks although it is banned in Malaysia for quite some time already but no one seems to care about it. How can celebrate new year without fireworks?! We still prefer wearing red red on the first day of new year. As generation pass to another generation, new trends started to come in. Now my definition of CNY is :

ang paos, ang paos and more ang paos!!

My all time favorite - our family tradition gambling session

Who will miss a tasty bite of Bak Gua

and also homemade cookies and chocolate

Last but not least, wearing new clothes and dressing up for house visiting. :) :) oh.. I love CNY so much! But all these gonna end soon. Class starting tomorrow and back to homework, tutorials, assignments and mid term. how sad... :( Well, I think enough of joy for the moment, time to push myself for mid term this time. :) cheers.

Mythical Sea-Dragon - The Cause of Flood?

Have you heard about the story regarding the flood in Johor, about the mythical sea-dragon creature? "a fisherman from Johor caught a very unusual sea-creature that resembles a little sea-dragon. A rich Datuk offered thefisherman RM5000 to buy over this sea-creature to be place in KLCC Aquaria but was turned down by thefisherman. Subsequently this sea-creature did not survive in captivity of the fisherman about 2 weeks ago. Then, came the big flood. This fisherman's house together with thousands of others suffered loss as a result of the flood. Then just last week the fisherman and a few other Chinese people went to a Chinese Temple in Johor with the hope that the medium for guidance about their situation. And do you know what the medium said to these people. He said the flood was as a result of the death of that sea-creature happens to be the offspring of "Hoi Loong Wong" (King Neptune's offspring). The fisherman should have freed the sea-creature instead of keeping it. It has brought upon bad karma to the entire Johor region. I believe the discovery of the sea-creature 2 months ago was covered by the Chinese daily papers. Mythical curse or Act of God?" Heard that there is going to be a 3rd flooding during CNY, and it is supposed to be the worst.
I got this from an email send by my dad. Well, just like what it wrote, they assumed that this sea-dragon look alike fish is a symbol of the prince of the God of Dragon who guard under the water world. Just like we watched in the drama " Journey To The West " , we sort of imagine the God of Dragon live under the sea with long beard and dragon's horn. Anyway, what u guys think about this? Well, it does look like a dragon to me, in fact in the drama " Journey to the west" the prince of the God of Dragon is really in white. Might be just a coincident I guess. Believe it or not, now let's just pray that will not be anymore floods in the future and i really dont wanna see more disaster anymore.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

This will be just post on why I didn't update the blog for a long time. As u all know CNY is here.

First day : Went to aunties, grand aunties and uncles and great grandauntie's house. As usual everyone said I grew taller even though my height last year and this year is the same. even if it increase, it'll only be 1cm extra. Whatever. We woke up early in the morning, dress up nicely which i took almost an hour and then soja my parents wishing them panjang panjang umur this and that. haha.. This year a little bit special, I even had to soja my two brothers. Why? Of course to collect ang pao's from them la. After that, we headed to my dad's side at Batu Berendam. We had lunch at my aunt's house and later make a move to my mother's side. Went to Koh Poh Seh house first with Tua Yi and my cousins. Met my Ee Cik and Ng Teo there. Soja them and yet another ang pao into my bag. :P Hahahaa. Next, we went to Cik Kung's house. Kor Kor Simon and Jie Jie Joyce came back from Singapore served us delicious roti jala with yummylicious rendang! Oh my... it's soooooo ssoooooooooo YUMMYLICIOUS!! and I ate about 10roti jala at that time. So no surprise if u see me a little bit fatter when class starts again. :) After that delicious meal, we headed to Ku Kung's house but I didnt ate anything there because I was still very very full. Our last stop was Tua Yi's house. Soja my grandma and enjoy kuih pai-tee that Tua Yi made. Yum Yum. We left Tua Yi's hosue around 5pm and straight back home. What a tiring day. Just at the moment me and mum wanted to take a nap, soemone came to our house. It's mum's friend and to my surprise his daughter was Hui Yen, my classmate. hahahaa.. What a small small world. Later at night, we didnt go anywhere. So where did my free time went?? It's none other than the baba nyonya tradition ( maybe only this nyonya family ) which passed down from generation to generation... which is... The Art of Gambling and The Art of Psychology in Gambling ( LOL!! those in voices will understand about that art of psychology in gambling thingy. Hahahahahhahahahahaha ). As Yeo family, we will start gambling when the sun sets and stop gambling after 12am. LOL. So that's it for day 1.

Second day of CNY :
We woke up very early too because we sort of having a mini open house. Well, only for family members and my dad's very close friends only. We ordered roti jala, rendang, nasi hempit and it's kuah. Many people came today, none of them were my friends la. Hahahaa.. Oh ya.. this morning on our way back home, we picked up a pity little dog on the street. It is a shih tzu breed. It was raining cats and dogs outside, and the dog seemed to walk aimlessly and there's no sign of his owner. How can his owner just let him wandering around when it was raining so heavily? So without hesistate, dad brought him home. After the rain stop we brought the dog out to search for his owner but in vain. No signs of people claiming for a missing dog. :( Nevermind, dad brought him home and bath him and found out that he's very very thin. As in u can only feel his bones, flashless with its fluffy fluffy fur. Pity him. Mum said she saw him wandering around few days ago, I bet he was abandoned by his owner. Therefore, we took him in and named him LUCKY. Hehehee. Anyway, I was gambling few hours ago and I lost more than RM20.How sad :( sob sob. Nevermind, I'll try my best to win back all soon... okay... back to my gambling session.. Ja ne!!

A Happy Dayout!

Sorry guys for there will be no pictures for this post at the moment because all the pictures we took is in Alex's hp. Now I have to wait for another one week for him to get back here and upload all the pictures. By then I'll edit this post and fill it with lots and lots of pictures ok?

So at the mean time, I'll just roughly describe what we did and how we celebrate on Valentine's Day. Basically, we have morning classes til late evening and that's why we celebrate it at night. Alex and I had a hard time deciding where we should have our dinner. Alex then suggests that we first head to Melaka Raya and search for food there and there. :) Sounds pretty cool to me cause I'm very bad in deciding where to go and this and that.

Upon our arrival at Melaka Raya, we came across Windmill and Amigo. Alex wanted to try Amigo as we can get Windmill in Jusco Bukit Beruang itself. So we went to Amigo instead. Well well, nothing less for Valentine's Day. Amigo was packed with people and mind you... most of them are not couples, they come in family. That's pretty surprising for me.. Hmm. Doesnt really matter, we celebrate Valentine with our love ones right? One of the staff there asked us to wait for awhile and we stood there about 10-15minutes and plan to change our plan rather than waiting for our turn. Therefore, we went for Korean Food instead!! LOL. Since Alex haven't tasted it before and wanted to at least try it once, so we went to the Korean Restaurant ( DA CHANG JIN - which is a famous korean drama about a girl who enter the palace and became a very good cook and then with plots and drama.. yada yada yada... ) which is opposite Pure Bar.

Surprisingly, I was kinda excited of the whole environment and the decoration of the restaurant itself. I felt... I felt.. I was once again in Korea. Feeling nostalgic I could said. :) I really wish to go back to Korea one day again. Heheee.. However, I still have this bad mind set about Korean food. To be honest, I don't really like Korean food after I tried them in Korea itself. Especially KIMCHI!! Yucksssss! By the way, Kimchi is a spicy salted cabbage. Anyway, we ordered a soup which had bean curd mix with eggs in it. It tatse great!!!!!!!! Yummylicious but it was a little bit too spicy for Alex. This restaurant even serve you free 10side dishes just like those dishes I had in Korea. Well, not really excited about it as u know how much I dislike Korean food. :P ooppss.. sorry.. but I just dun like it. But this time, some of the dishes are pretty nice such as the siham, sausage.. etc etc. Then here it comes when the Kimchi was serve. I've warned Alex about Kimchi for god knows how long ago... and now he had the chance to try it.... He took up his chopstick, take a slice of kimchi and slowly taste it.. and... there appears his expression on his face.... the expression which I can tell it wasn't something good.... which also I can describe in a word... "YUCKSSSSSSSSSSS!!!" LOL. After that none of us touches that kimchi. Told ya right? it sucks. Hehehe.. however, overall it is a satisfying meal.

Me at the korean restaurant, waiting for food.

After our meal we went to the fun fair. Alex decided to bring me there because I only been to the fun fair ONLY once in my life time and that also with my mum and brother. This time it was with him. Nothing special or interesting in this fun fair compared the one I went last time. We tried our luck on the " throw the ring into the bottle" game, which is unlikely to enter although they gave us dozens of rings. It's really hard, no wonder they willing to give away a HUGEEE mashimaro if we get to enter two rings. hahaahha..

At the fun fair

Next, we rushed to DP to get ourself a treat of ice cream since I wanted it sooooo badly. Hahaha.. we had mango flavour and chocolate with rums. Yummy! Thought of visiting valerie too but the shop already closed, we can't get to enter. How sad.. :( Nevermind la... we went back home then.

Overall, it was really a nice and happy day out with Alex. :) Wish I could sneak out more often. Wait... It's how I wish I can go out freely with Alex one day without sneaking behind my parents back. :( :( Parents wouldnt understand us... never!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!!!!

Dunno why I suddenly felt so happy on the 13th and 14th of February this year. Maybe I know Valentine is coming? LOL. Somehow, some of my friends are in at the stage of breaking up with their gfs at this very moment too. :( I really wish they can mend things up. Of all day, why quarrel on Valentine's Day?

When most of us will be celebrating or enjoying our valentine's day with their patner or alone at home drinking a glass of wine while catching a nice movie, some stupid lecturer who doesn't have a date for himself decided to have replacement class on V Day itself! Pathetic, useless buffalo! Who cares? I'm so not gonna go for class tonight. No way I'll do that, I wont sacrifice my V Day for tat lecturer!! Hell NO! I'm going to spend today with my dearie. :) :)

Before that, I wanna wish all the couples, be happy together, less quarrel, more tolerance and just be lovey dovey couples ok? and as for singles, don't be too desperate to seek for love, instead let love find u. Probably u'll get a good patner for urself this time. Meanwhile, enjoy this day with ur frens or family or if u prefer to be alone. Make urself happy and stress free ya! :) XOXO.

BAD HAIR DAY!!!

Oh gosh! Look what happened to me now??!! As mentioned on the title above, I HAVE a bad hair day. :( hooo hoo. Somehow my hair is frizzy today, EXTREMELY frizzy. I wanna cry... I feel liek cutting it away, but I still want my long long hair. Cries* How, can anyone help me with this? I just steam my hair last few weeks. What should I do now?? Hmm.. nvm nvm, I'll try to use lots and lots of hair condition later though it's really late by now. Whatever la! I need to get my hair done by today, please pray hard that it'll be back to normal after shampooing later. :(

Oh ya, sorry Azra. The chocolate that we made yesterday failed. They seem not to get harden even when we put them in the fridge. Mum said that we shouldn't add water when we stir the chocolate in the first place. Sigh... Blames aunt for teaching us the wrong method and now the chocolates are all wasted. :( :( Anyway, I'll just stop here, gotta do my tutorial question now or else I'll be soooooo dead tomorrow. :P

CHOCOLATESSSSSSSS.....

Today, mum and I decided to make CHOCOLATE cookies which don't require flour or oven. What u need are :

Ingredients :
1. 1 Bar of chocolate ( dun need to buy cadbury or what, just go to a shop that sells baking stuff. recommendation : bukit beruang behind score A )
2. paper cup for cupcakes
3. Cashew nut and almond

Instructions :
1. Smash the almond and cashew nuts. ( not too fine )
2. Boiled the chocolate bar. ( dun dump the chocolate bar into the pot and boiled it ok? u have to stim it actually )
3. ready the paper cup and lay it on trays.
4. When the chocolate melts, add some hot water.
5. stir it and boiled for awhile more
6. pour the melted chocolate into the paper cup.
7. Sprinkles those crush nuts on top of it
8. Put it in the fridge to harden it and WALAH!! there u go.. a brand new chocolate.. ehhee

It's that simple and easy rite? See, everyone can do it, why cant u?

Eventually, my mum complained that I poured the melted chocolate into the cup too slow and Im taking too much time, Hence she took over after I finished my 1st tray. Yeap, she did very fast, just few minutes she finished a tray... BUT.. here's the result...

my cute little chocolates.. so round and cute!

and this fugly ones are my mum's. :P

See! im slow but at least it turn out to be nice, unlike mum's one.. fast but.. yerr... ugly.... Hahahahaa..

Saturday, February 10, 2007

it's not another ordinary Saturday.

Well, this is another random post of my weekends. This morning all of us woke up very early, 8.30am ( very early for me especially on a saturday morning..yawn. ) Then my parents, 2nd bro and I headed to Bukit Baru to have dim sum for breakfast. Yum Yum although I still prefer the one in bukit beruang because of their varieties there and cheaper price. After filling our stomach with those delicious and yummylicious dim sum, we send my brother's Myvi to the mechanic and our next stop is IKEA. Hmm.. not the IKEA in KL which sells furnitures but IKEA in Melaka that sells........... FISH. Hahahaa.. Dad bought another two goldfish and book a huge acquarium. Wonder where my dad wanna put it this time. hmmm.

Around 1smtg pm, my eldest brother and his gf came back!! Wee! it's such a long time since he came back home. Been very busy of cause due to his work. Pity him, but nevermind la, work harder, earn more money so I can get more angpao from him this year ma. kekekkee.. evil sis. Brother's gf brought alot of food for CNY range from mushroom to chocolates. Happy Happy me. :)

At night, we decided to go for food hunt at Jonker. We ended up at a laksa stall and ate cendol. Frankly speaking I didn't really enjoy the food and the cendol. Yucks! It tatse bad.. not like the cendol from the opposite shop. Anyway, there was lion dance too, and Datuk Gan Boon Leong was there with other VIPs. I bought two hair bands and earrings today from jonker. Last time we used to see 3pairs of earrings for RM10, this time I got 5pairs of earrings for RM10. I spend about 20minutes finding for earrings that I like which is a tough job. :P:P So that's all about today la. nothing much happened aso... :) Tomorrow mum and I will do chocolate cookies!! Wee!! so, Ja Ne.. :) :)

the hair band I bought :)

Happy Happy Me! :)

YES!!! Finally I managed to pass "Astral" after failed to pass that song for the ( dunno ) how many times. Muahahahaa.. Well, I'm talking about o2jam of course. I've been playing that song for months and still unable to pass UNTIL today, I manage to pass it! Wee! TWICE somemore. Kkkekekekee.. :):) now u know why I'm so happy? My friends will definitely call me crazy or what for such a little thing, but dun care la, as long I'm happy. :P Bluek!

Now here comes the dilemma...

Valentine's day is comin in.... ( counting ) 5days. Oh gosh, what should I do this time? I haven't really prepare anything yet and I dunno what I should buy or do for Alex. Don't say things like I'm doing it last minute or what ok? I've been thinking these since few weeks ago but still ... sigh.. What should I buy? What he likes? Hmmm..

Nevermind about me.. How about u? Any plans? Any dates? Valentine doesnt mean u can only celebrate with ur patners ( bf/gf ), u can celebrate with ur love ones liek family and friends too u know. Many people have misinteperate the meaning of Valentine. All they know is Valentine = Going out with ur gf/bf ONLY. Well, that's not like it... it's about sharing love with ur love ones, ur patners, spouses, family, sons & daugther and even ur lovely friends. So don't just stay at home on Valentine Day, come and share ur love. Maybe catch a nice movie with ur family, or hang out with friends. As for couple, this is the best time for u guys to get romantic. Hehehe.. :P

Today I wonder is it really nessecery for bf to give their gf roses? Well, it does makes us happy la, but do they gv us for the sack of making us happy only? Hmmm.. nvm, forget about it. It just came across my mind about this when one of my good friend came and ask me this :

CH : " Lene, do u think she will happy when she received my handmade roses?"
Lene : " Hmm.. I really have no idea, it depends. Some think giving paper flower and saying about eternity love when the paper roses won't die are bullshit. "
CH : "Then how wor.. I scared she will not like it.. "
Lene : " I think she can feel ur sincerity if she knows u make all of them by urself. "
CH : ( still doubtful )

What u guys think about this? What if ur bf make a bunch or paper roses for u instead of real roses?? Hmmm.. Better reply me abotu this ok, especially Azra and Mich. Hehehe..
